Prince Edward Island always welcomes business professionals who demonstrate an ability to contribute to the growth of the economy.

There are three streams from which an applicant can apply for:

Prince Edward Island 100% Ownership Stream

The 100% Ownership Stream of the PEI (PNP) will accepts applicants from experienced business managers and entrepreneurs. The applicants must have a plan to invest in and actively manage an eligible business in Prince Edward Island. In order to qualify for the 100% Ownership stream, you must:

  • Be within 21 to 59 years of age;
  • Possess a minimum education of high-school equivalent;
  • Have scored a minimum band score of 4.0 on the IELTS test within the last 2 years;
  • Have a personal net worth of at least CAD $600,000 obtained from legal sources;
  • Deposit $200,000 Canadian dollars, which is held in escrow (security deposit);
  • Make a minimum $150,000 Canadian dollars investment to start or purchase an eligible business in Prince Edward Island;
  • Control 100% of the business and provide active and on-going management of the business from within Prince Edward Island;
  • Provide a detailed business plan for 100% business ownership that falls within an eligible sector.

Prince Edward Island PNP Partial Ownership Stream

The Partial Ownership Stream of the PEI (PNP) will accepts business applicants from experienced business managers and entrepreneurs. The applicants must have a plan to become a partial owner of an existing and eligible Prince Edward Island business. In order to qualify for the Partial Ownership Stream, you must:

  • Be within 21 to 59 years of age;
  • Possess a minimum education of high-school equivalent;
  • Have transferable management skills and past employment;
  • Have scored a minimum band score of 4.0 on the IELTS test within the last 2 years;
  • Have a personal net worth of at least CAD $600,000 obtained from legal sources;
  • Deposit CAD $200,000, which is held in escrow (security deposit);
  • Make a minimum of CAD $150,000 investment into an existing Prince Edward Island owned and operated business for a partial ownership interest of a minimum of 33.3 % of voting shares; or make a minimum CAD $1 million investment;
  • Provide active and on-going management of the business from within Prince Edward Island;
  • Provide a detailed business plan for partial business ownership that falls within an eligible sector.

Prince Edward Island PNP Work Permit Stream

The Work Permit Stream of the PEI (PNP) will accepts applications from experienced business managers and entrepreneurs. Prior to being nominated by the province for permanent residency, applicants must plan to obtain Canada Work Permit from CIC and become a sole or partial owner of a business by investing in and actively managing an eligible business in Prince Edward Island. To qualify for the Work Permit Stream, an applicant must:

  • Submit a work permit application to CIC which states that the applicant intends to invest in and manage a business in Prince Edward Island;
  • Possess a minimum education of high-school equivalent;
  • Have transferable management skills and past employment;
  • Have scored a minimum band score of 4.0 on the IELTS test within the last 2 years;
  • Have a personal net worth of at least CAD $600,000 obtained from legal sources;
  • Provide active and on-going management of the business from within Prince Edward Island;
  • Sign a Performance Agreement containing stipulations on the business investment that must be satisfied to proceed with nomination;
  • Make a minimum $150,000 Canadian dollars investment to start or purchase an eligible business in Prince Edward Island;
  • Provide a detailed business plan that falls within an eligible sector and meets all program criteria in place at the time of application.
